Yan Xun Wei is truly an exceptional and unique blue cheese developed in Singapore by The Cheese Artisans in 2017. The cheese was inspired by the rich and diverse Singapore culture, a modern hybrid affinage of the western and eastern.
The Cheese Artisans specially selected the blue cheese, lightly hickory smoked it then packed it in Chinese black tea and aged it a few weeks further in our professionally built dual-temperature maturing rooms right here in the heart of Singapore. The result of the cheese is amazing! It is creamy, buttery and yet, it has a grainy and crumble texture on the palate and a lovely smokey aroma that is loved by many. The flavour is savoury, slightly spicy and smokey with an elegant finish and refined tea notes.
Yan Xun Wei (Smokey Blue) was first launch at Epicurean Market 2017, a 3-days gourmet food and wine fair organised Marina Bay Sands. It was very well loved and received, and applaud by both locals and expatriates. The first 2 wheels of Yan Xun Wei were sold out within 2 hours of the launch. Definitely a crowd pleaser!
